Mrs. Kathy Carter

Mrs. Kathy Carter is a 4th Degree Black Belt.

Training since: February 1997

Why I train in Tae Kwon Do: I began training for the exercise, but continue because the martial arts discipline and tenets have become a way of life. The mental aspect is as strong as the physical aspect.

Teaching Philosophy: I feel teaching in a positive environment, where students have fun is very important. When students are having fun, they don't realize that they are learning so much. ATC works at produciung winners in life, not just in the competition ring.

Mr. Steven Carter

Mr. Steve Carter is a 4th Degree Black Belt.

Training since: Late 1997

Why I train in Tae Kwon Do: I have trained for a number of reasons over the years.  I initially started Taekwondo training to lose weight.  As I progressed I found that workouts acted to relieve stress and I began to form a circle of friends that I've come to think of as my "Taekwondo family".  I firmly believe that taking the tenets of Taekwondo to heart and trying to live by them has brought out the best not only in me but also in those closest to me.

Teaching Philosophy: First is to both instruct and keep the interest of your students. No one will make the effort to better themselves or learn something new if it is forced on them or presented in an unappealing manner. The use of humor and positive reinforcement can allow a student to achieve things that they only dreamed to be within their grasp. The teacher-student relationship is symbiotic; the positive energy that comes out of this is something greater than anything than can be created individually.

It may sound trite, but I still find myself looking back at what I have been able to achieve with disbelief. When I look at what others have done, the paths they've taken and the places they have gone, I realize how little I have learned and how much further I can go. There are truly no limits. I am deeply thankful for the opportunity to have met so many wonderful people through martial arts.

Ed Delgado-Romero

Mr. Ed Delgado-Romero is a 2nd Degree Black Belt

Training since: 1989 (with ATC since 2005)

Why I train in Tae Kwon Do: I started martial arts after a troubled youth hit me while I was working as a counselor. I wanted to learn self-defense. I tried several martial arts but in 1993 found Tae Kwon Do and received my first black belt in ITF style Tae Kwon Do in 1996. I had to move a lot because of my education and trained in Tai Chi, Karate, Ju Jitsu and Hapkido. In 2002 received a first degree black belt in WTF style Tae Kwon Do. In 2005 I started at ATC. I train at ATC because it's great exercise, it's my "therapy" and because the instructors and fellow students are so supportive and friendly.
